▶Objectives
The MoreThanHuman project will address those sustainability competences, such as systems thinking and valuing sustainability, that are not adequately addressed by traditional pedagogical approaches. We will develop a framework that focuses on pedagogical approaches that recognise the interdependencies between humans and their environment, the need to consider multiple disciplines, and the inclusion of a deeper inter-subjective dimension of learning to fight climate change.
▶Activities
Academics take part in an online MoreThanHuman Teaching Talk with a podium and discussions on relational pedagogies. Through a literature review and an empirical study, a research report will be produced. This report informs the Sustainability Pedagogy Framework, encompassing relational and innovative pedagogical approaches. It will be disseminated via the project website, social media, a multiplier event and the piloted and peer-reviewed online programme and the Sustainability Pedagogy Centre.
▶Impact
A research based framework for sustainability pedagogy will be developed that focuses on sustainability competences that challenge human centred worldviews and engage with relational worldviews to fight climate change. The Sustainability Pedagogy Centre and the COOTE programme will be public to engage educators from various different sectors, fields, and disciplines with the framework. This in turn will enhance students’ sustainability competences needed to reach climate neutrality by 2050.
