With this project, the participating organizations aimed to promote the exchange of innovative approaches and the development of teaching methods that incorporate sound in adult and health education within the EU. Recognizing the diverse applications of sound as a teaching method, the project sought to establish an interdisciplinary network of European practitioners and educators. A key focus was inclusion, particularly the sustainable integration of educators from remote EU regions, especially from La Réunion, into this network. Another goal was to enable the two participating organizations to gain experience in planning and implementing an international project. At the same time, they aimed to understand the practical processes and specific requirements of a project conducted under the EU’s ERASMUS+ program. The insights gained were to be shared with other partner organizations and used for the development of future projects.

The project was implemented in a hybrid format to enable decentralized participation from various parts of Europe. Through exchange meetings, interactive workshops, a symposium, and the formation of a transnational working group, a sustainable network was created to facilitate knowledge transfer between EU centers and peripheral regions. Germany – 3 activities with 3 sub-activities: • “Sound for Health and Art” in Nuremberg • “Sound for Health and Art” at the Oetken Gong Factory, Rendsburg • 1st Gong Symposium, Leisnig Sub-activities – Gong Sessions: • Sound weekend at Schloss Delitzsch • Multi-Gong Meditation in Stuttgart with Drum Circle • Gong concert at the Resurrection Church in Büdelsdorf La Réunion – 3 sub-activities: Gong Sessions: • Multi-Gong Session in Saint Denis • Gong-Putja in La Bretagne • Children’s Sound Journey in La Bretagne France (Mainland) – 3 sub-activities: Gong Sessions: • “Wellness Area” in Castetner • “Soleil” in Lambesc • Senior residence “Résidence les Jardins” in Auvergne Online meetings were held to prepare and support the project. The activities “Symposiums & Networking” and “Documentation & Dissemination” were conducted online.

The project initiated an international, dynamic network for educators in adult education who use or are interested in sound as a teaching method. Educators from peripheral EU regions, such as La Réunion, were actively involved. The world’s first Gong Symposium was successfully organized, and a concept for future events was developed. Numerous educators and organizations were inspired to participate in similar projects and strengthen international exchange. The first follow-up projects by other organizations are already in the planning phase. Knowledge transfer to educators in geographically disadvantaged regions of the EU was successfully implemented through various teaching activities (gong sessions, gong concerts, gong training) in the participating countries. These types of events have proven to be an effective method for knowledge transfer in terms of inclusion and have now been established. Additionally, the participating organizations gained valuable experience regarding the challenges and opportunities of international collaboration and EU-funded projects.
