E-Turismus: Digital Skills for Small – Medium (SMEs) ToURISM Enterprises
▶Summary
We applied for this project to address the urgent training needs in digital transformation in the tourism sector, particularly for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). We applied for this project to close digital skill gaps, promote the modernization of tourism SMEs, and help adapt to the economic changes in the hospitality industry. This project should empower individuals and businesses to adapt, thrive, and remain competitive in a rapidly evolving and economically challenging environment. The COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent economic downturn exposed significant gaps in digital skills among entrepreneurs, educators and VET students, to adapt knowledge to a rapidly evolving market. These gaps hinder the sector's response to technological advancements, economic shifts, and the demands of a globalized economy. The project application aimed to close these skill gaps by offering for tourism SMEs through a modular curriculum, that will supports digital skills development. This include tailored training and tools, designed for SMEs, VET providers, and educators, and accessible in multiple languages. The application should offer new opportunities equipped businesses to thrive in competitive and challenging environments.
▶Objectives
The project aimed to empower tourism SMEs by developing essential digital skills to modernize operations and address economic challenges ( also exacerbated by COVID and war conflicts). The project sought to foster digital transformation by promoting tools that enhance efficiency, customer engagement, and competitiveness. By conducting field research, the project aimed to align tourist needs with service offerings. A key objective was creating a sector-specific, modular digital curriculum for employers, employees, VET students & educators, enabling them to address industry challenges and improve employability. Practical knowledge application was encouraged through blended training sessions, ensuring participants could bridge theory and practice. The project aimed to raise awareness of the benefits of digitalization, supporting SMEs in adapting to economic changes while building digital readiness, resilience, and capacity. Additionally, it promoted lifelong learning by providing flexible, high-quality educational opportunities tailored to the tourism sector. Ultimately, the project aimed to contribute to a resilient, innovative, and customer-focused regional tourism industry ready to thrive in a competitive and globalized marke
