Objectives

Green Edutrips focused on addressing the need to integrate sustainability into adult education. One of the main objectives was to strengthen the capacity of educational institutions to implement sustainable travel practices on an ongoing basis. In doing so, we aimed to equip these institutions with the tools to promote sustainability in everyday travel, fostering a mind-set of care for the environment. Following on from this, we also wanted to empower educators, providing them with the necessary skills to teach and motivate their students towards a more sustainable way of travelling. This is why the Green Travel Protocol was developed as a resource for institutions to adopt sustainable mobility practices and measure their impact over time. In addition to this, we wanted participants to understand that sustainability is a shared responsibility, for which the Green Vademecum was created as a resource for adopting sustainable travel practices in their daily lives. In this way, participants were expected to become active agents of change, promoting sustainability on a large scale.

Activities

The project consists of six activities which are described below: A.1: Green Edu-trips Kick-off in Granada: kick-off meeting where the partners established the working methodology, distributed responsibilities and defined the project implementation strategy. A.2: Development of The Green Travel Protocol: creation of a protocol with instructions for sustainable travel aimed at educational institutions. It includes a scoring system to assess the sustainability of each trip. A.3: Development of Vademecum Green: a manual with tips and strategies to reduce the environmental impact of everyday travel for commuters. A.4: Green edu-trips LTTA in Slovenia: activity where educators and youth workers were trained in the application of the Green Travel Protocol. A.5: Final TPM in Latvia: last meeting where partners analysed the project results, shared experiences and planned dissemination activities and sustainability strategies. A.6: Green edu-trips dissemination events: 3 national and one international event were organised to present the project results to a wider audience.
