When implementing the project, we hoped to have a direct impact on two levels: on the one hand, to train vocational training instructors and youth workers in innovative methodologies for working on personal leadership with young people; and on the other, to transfer this learning to the young people themselves through a training programme tailored to their contexts and needs. Our goal was to help participants develop greater awareness of their abilities, strengthen their autonomy and acquire tools to define and pursue their personal and professional goals. We also aimed to build a solid partnership between educational centres and youth organisations that would enable this approach to be integrated into everyday work, beyond the duration of the project. Finally, we wanted to systematise the lessons learned and generate teaching materials that could be transferred and replicated in other educational contexts in the European Union.

We requested this project with the aim of responding to a need shared by our partner organisations: the lack of specific tools for working on personal leadership with young people in rural areas, especially those enrolled in vocational training programmes and facing social, economic or educational barriers. We have observed that many of these young people have difficulty identifying their own resources, planning their future and undertaking life projects independently. Added to this is the poor connection between traditional training content and the cross-cutting skills linked to self-leadership, decision-making and emotional management. The organisations involved share the conviction that personal leadership is a key skill for personal development and youth employability, but that it is rarely worked on in a structured way that is adapted to local realities. Through this project, we wanted to generate a practical, transferable pedagogical approach focused on accompanying young people in their process of empowerment and professional orientation.
