ASSET set out to address the insufficient preparation of teachers to deliver climate and environmental education, and the lack of adequate curricular focus on sustainability. Our main objective was to strengthen teachers’ skills and confidence in this field, equipping them with innovative tools and materials to better integrate environmental issues into their teaching practice. More specifically, the project aimed to: Develop an innovative methodological guidebook and a set of interactive learning materials, supporting teachers in delivering engaging, practice-oriented climate education (IO1 and IO2). Create a policy toolkit to inform decision-makers and experts, providing recommendations for integrating scarcity-related environmental topics into primary education (IO3). Apply a complex, interdisciplinary approach, focusing on key areas such as agro-farming, waste management, energy efficiency, water management, and biodegradation, in order to give teachers and students a deeper understanding of environmental challenges. Disseminate and test these outputs through international and local events (teacher trainings, a student camp, dissemination workshops, and Climate Clubs), ensuring evaluation, visibility, and sustainability.

During the project we successfully implemented all planned activities, ensuring a smooth and collaborative process among partners. The main achievements were: - Development of intellectual outputs: We elaborated the ASSET Methodological Guidebook for Teachers (IO1) and the ASSET Environmental Learning Materials (IO2). - Capacity-building for teachers and students: We organized one transnational teacher training event (C1), where educators from partner countries were introduced to the guidebook and learning materials and exchanged best practices. In addition, we held an international student camp (C2), which allowed students to experience interactive environmental learning activities and provided an opportunity to pilot the project’s outputs in a real educational setting. - Dissemination activities: Each partner organized at least one national multiplier workshop (E1–E7), reaching local teachers, schools, NGOs, and other stakeholders. - Final conference: At the end of the project, we held an international closing conference (E8), gathering representatives of educational institutions, NGOs, and policymakers. - Policy Toolkit (IO3): comprehensive set of recommendations and best practices for decision-makers.

The project produced three main intellectual outputs: the ASSET Methodological Guidebook for Teachers, which provides a practical framework for integrating environmental topics into education; the ASSET Environmental Learning Materials, developed in seven thematic modules to support interactive classroom practice; and the Policy Toolkit, offering recommendations for decision-makers and experts. These outputs were tested and applied through a transnational teacher training, an international student camp, and national multiplier events, complemented by a final international conference that ensured wide dissemination and visibility. As a result, teachers enhanced their skills and confidence in climate education, students developed greater environmental awareness and motivation, and policymakers and stakeholders increased their understanding of how sustainability can be embedded in school systems. In addition, the project fostered knowledge transfer across local and international contexts, building networks and partnerships that will continue to promote climate education beyond the project’s lifetime.
