Objectives

The main objective of the project is to develop students' entrepreneurial and international skills by organizing a camp in Lapland and Spain. The students will have the opportunity to meet and learn from local Finnish and Spanish entrepreneurs, who will also benefit from networking opportunities. The project will also focus on sustainability, and the students will work together with entrepreneurs to find solutions to sustainability issues, that also include the virtual travelling and tourism.

Activities

The project implemented a wide range of international and learning-oriented activities in Finland and Spain. The program included online meetings, orientation sessions, and camp schools in Helsinki, Rovaniemi, Denia, and Mallorca. Students and staff participated in various cultural and nature-based experiences, such as visiting Santa Claus Village, ice fishing, husky safaris, hiking, and exploring Spanish cuisine and tourism destinations. Multilingual materials (brochures, games, videos) were produced, and virtual and gamified learning methods were developed, including Thinglink scenarios and the Seppo/Juan educational games. Students also practiced drone photography and produced marketing videos for partner companies. Collaboration with companies and networking played a central role in the project. The activities culminated in a final seminar on sustainable tourism, where results were evaluated and experiences were shared between Finnish and Spanish partners.

Impact

The project had significant concrete impacts on both students’ and staff’s skills and working methods. Teachers’ digital competence was strengthened through the production of project materials, the use of artificial intelligence and H5P tools, and the development of the Moodlerooms learning environment. As a result of the project, new digital learning modules were created, such as Working in a Digital Environment and Introduction to Spanish, which were partly implemented through remote learning and digital tools. Students enhanced their international, linguistic, and professional skills and earned study credits toward their qualifications. They produced diverse materials such as The Everyone’s Rights Guide for visitors to Finland, Spanish-language brochures, and marketing videos for partner companies. Using drone photography, students also created visual content for Lapin Erämatkat and the project’s communications. The project further strengthened cooperation between Finnish and Spanish educational institutions and companies, expanding networks and creating new international partnerships for future projects.
