Objectives

We wanted our students to become aware of future issues regarding water and to acquire technical knowledge in this field. In particular, the fragility of our water resources, problems of flooding, rising water levels, consumption, irrigation, and the solutions to address them. We wanted them to share this awareness and their knowledge with other young people of their age.

Activities

- Organization or participation in forums, conferences, workshops (Water Days in Alcanar and Clermont-Ferrand, conferences with journalists, academics, or water management experts, practical activities led by our students for other students, especially primary school children). - Creation of videos with interviews of professionals discussing the problems they face in the field of water. The students went to meet local officials, researchers, experts, or farmers, interviewed them, and translated the content into English. - Creation of a quiz by the students focusing on water-related issues. - Design and manufacture of a board game based on knowledge about water and its issues. We are convinced that a board game is the best way to share our knowledge because the students who participate are active. They remember information better. Initially, the game is produced in around a hundred copies. - Design and manufacture of a model to raise awareness among primary school students about water consumption. - Fun and physical activities: kayaking, walking, and cycling along rivers or by the sea.

Impact

- Concrete achievements: The board game described earlier is part of an eTwinning project with 4 other partner high schools with which the students collaborated to create and test it. It's a cooperative board game based on questions and challenges that can be played by 3, 4, or 5 players in about 45 minutes. - a 'water consumption' model. Not finished yet. - videos of interviews with people concerned with the water issue through their profession, made and then translated and subtitled by the students.
