▶Objectives
We had several objectives to achieve. Firstly, we wanted to develop the attraction for education and vocational training. This objective was common to the Spanish high school and the French high school. For the Italian high school, the objective was more to introduce learners to the practical side of their teaching which is rather theoretical. The model project lent itself well to this objective. Secondly, we wanted to increase the quality of the work of our young people and better promote their know-how. The European train project could make it possible to achieve these objectives because we were going to put the learners in 'project' mode with a result objective expected by the city of RUFFEC. Finally, one of our objectives was to develop among our young people common civic values and the desire to get involved, to “get active”.
▶Activities
1 - Design of plans and launch This activity made it possible to prepare the specifications for the elements of the European train. Numerous videoconferences took place during this period. 2 - Creation of prototypes The locomotive prototypes were made by the French team. During this time, the Spanish began the plans of their wagon and the Italians began the sketches of the models which they would produce a little later. 3 - Technical visit from Italian and Spanish colleagues This activity made it possible to meet teachers from different countries and to validate the choices made previously. 4/5 and 6 - Collaborative work week Spain / Italy / France These activities made it possible to bring together the learners for 3 weeks of common activities, one week in each country. These 3 weeks were the most humanly enriching for all the learners and their teachers. 7 - Delivery of train elements to RUFFEC This activity consisted of sending and receiving Italian models and the Italian wagon. 8 - Reception of the project by the city – Inauguration of the European train This last activity highlighted the completion of the project.
▶Impact
The concrete achievements are: - manufacturing of two locomotives and two wagons from recycled wood by learners from different countries. Promoting professional training know-how in Spain and France. - creation of twelve wagon models, of various architectural inspirations by the Italian learners. - creation of common communication elements (logo, kakemonos, sweatshirts, posters, etc.) - regular and fruitful discussions of the steering group for the organization and regular progress of the project. - company visits in Italy, Spain and France. - cultural visits in the 3 countries concerned. - common activities between learners (pyrography workshop, model assembly, wood workshop session, The other results are: - increased visibility of our establishments in the local and regional press - increased attractiveness for our establishments, no more mini internships in our high school - a tenfold desire among our learners to go on Erasmus KA1 mobility. We sent 7 learners on an internship in a company, including 4 who are in the European train project. - recognition of the quality of learners' work
