The project 'In-CVET 2040 - Invitation to an Immersive Journey into Continuing Education in 2040' aims to help stakeholders in continuing vocational education anticipate and prepare for future transformations, particularly those related to ecological and digital transitions. Currently, the continuing vocational education sector is at a critical crossroads, where rapid technological advancements and societal expectations require long-term reflection. One of the key needs the project addresses is the necessity to develop a forward-thinking culture among continuing education professionals. Stakeholders in the sector, often focused on immediate concerns, must be able to anticipate the profound transformations that will affect vocational education in the coming decades. In particular, it has become essential to understand how ecological and digital transitions will redefine future skills and their development, and how continuing education can support these changes. The project aims to enable decision-makers and sector stakeholders to better anticipate, choose, and shape sectoral transformations.

The project 'In-CVET 2040' aligns with two Erasmus+ priorities: 'Environment and combating climate change' and 'Digital transformation.' It aims to help stakeholders in continuing vocational education anticipate and prepare for the profound transformations that these transitions will bring to the sector. The main objective was to raise awareness among professionals about ecological and digital challenges by offering them immersive and varied scenarios based on Design Fiction. These scenarios, combining illustrated narratives and forward-looking visions, explored possible futures for continuing education, highlighting perspectives ranging from desirable to dystopian. This concrete approach stimulated strategic debate and encouraged stakeholders to think about appropriate actions for the future. Beyond the digitalization of methods, the project questioned the global evolution of skills and the innovations needed to address long-term challenges. It fostered collective and creative thinking, complementing traditional prospective approaches, and actively engaged professionals in developing visions and strategies.
