▶Objectives
The strategic objective of the YESDGs project was to raise awareness and create a conducive transnational ecosystem for active engagement of young people in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Regarding implementation, the main project objective of YESDGs was to promote pro/active citizenship amongst young Europeans on issues and themes related to the Sustainable Development Goals, by a) supporting them to understand the relevance of the SDGs to their local context; b) identifying and co-developing tools to empower them to amplify their voices on climate change actions; and c) empowering them to identify and drive local actions. The project met these objectives.
▶Activities
The key activities implemented within the project were: a. a comprehensive analysis of and report on the challenges which young people identify most closely with in relation to environmental sustainability; b. creation of online and offline training tools for youth workers and young people on SDG education, and methodology guidelines to support these; c. online and in-person training and mentoring activities with members of the target groups in partner countries; d. facilitation of a Hackathon process in Italy to strengthen the peer networking and learning element of the project, and to foster empowerment of participants on climate change actions' e. publication of a Youth Manifesto for the SDGs, produced by young people and youth workers participating in the Hackathon.
▶Impact
YESDGs delivered the concrete outputs planned in the project proposal: 1. A research analysis of youth knowledge about SDGs and Agenda 2030 and an assessment of the skills and competencies of the target group to effect change; 2. Design, development, piloting and publication of a modular online learning programme for young people (18-30); 3. Methodological guidelines for youth workers to support their training activities with the target group; 4. Publication of a Youth Manifesto for the SDGs, advocating for co-developed actions and advocacy to support local action/s prioritised by the target group on the theme of the SDGs and Agenda 2030 objectives.
