โ–ถObjectives

The objectives of the 'Eco-Tourism Innovations for Rural Development' project, as outlined in the proposal, were as follows: Objective 1: Develop and implement a sustainable tourism strategy, promoting at least three eco-friendly and socially responsible practices and enhancing at least three unique natural or cultural resources in the target areas. Objective 2: Increase knowledge and skills related to sustainable tourism practices and entrepreneurial development for at least 15 representatives from rural tourism organizations in each of the four participating regions, for a total of at least 60 representatives. Objective 3: Raise awareness among at least 500 tourists and 100 local community members about the benefits of sustainable tourism, fostering greater awareness and encouraging active engagement in sustainability practices.

โ–ถActivities

The project included the following activities: A1 - Project Management: This activity ensured effective project coordination through regular meetings, activity monitoring, partner coordination, and administrative management. A2 - Research and Development of the ETIRD Handbook: An in-depth analysis was conducted in the target regions through desk research and 99 semi-structured interviews, identifying sustainable practices and local resources. The findings were compiled into the ETIRD Handbook, a practical guide for sustainable rural tourism. A3 - Pilot Training: Two pilot training sessions were organized in each partner country to test the handbook and provide practical training to 65 participants. A4 - Online Training: Each partner country organized five online training sessions, offering wider accessibility to rural tourism stakeholders. A5 - Dissemination and Final Conference: A comprehensive dissemination plan was implemented, including three press releases, eight national reports, and two transnational reports. The project culminated in a final conference in Valdobbiadene with 40 participants, promoting knowledge-sharing and networking among stakeholders.

โ–ถImpact

The project has generated significant tangible and intangible results. Among the tangible results, the ETIRD Handbook was developed as a practical guide to sustainable rural tourism practices. Additionally, three press releases, two transnational reports, and eight national dissemination reports were produced, documenting the project's research and dissemination activities. The pilot training sessions (A3) engaged 65 participants, exceeding the initial target, while the online training sessions (A4) recorded over 250 attendees, with 80% of participants reporting improved knowledge and skills in eco-tourism. Tailored guidelines and training materials were developed for Activities A3 and A4, further enhancing the educational impact of the project. The dissemination strategy successfully reached over 9,000 people, surpassing the initial objective of raising awareness among 500 tourists and 100 community members. The final conference (A5) gathered 40 key stakeholders, facilitating knowledge exchange, policy discussions, and future collaborations. Among the intangible results, the project significantly strengthened the competencies of both project partners and participants.
