Objectives

The project aimed to strengthen the communicative and relational competences of adults active in non-formal and informal education and support settings. Rather than providing formal or professional qualifications, the activities focused on building accessible and transferable skills to be used in everyday educational, social and community interactions. The primary target group included educators, tutors, counsellors, psychologists, volunteers and adult education providers who often work with adolescents, young adults and families in contexts where SOGIESC issues naturally emerge but are rarely addressed with appropriate tools. A further objective was to co-create educational materials that are easy to adapt, inclusive in language, and usable across different settings, allowing for long-term sustainability and wide replication. Finally, the project sought to consolidate transnational cooperation between the Italian and Dutch partner organisations, fostering shared learning, mutual enrichment and the exchange of practical approaches within a European framework.

Activities

Throughout the project, a structured series of blended workshops was implemented in Italy and the Netherlands. The learning pathway combined non-formal education, experiential activities and artivism, creating a dynamic space where language, identity and practice related to LGBTIQA+ issues could be explored in a concrete and inclusive way. A strong emphasis was placed on creativity and co-design: participants were not only learners but active contributors to the development of content, tools and narratives. Participatory focus groups complemented the workshops, gathering lived experiences and identifying gaps in existing practices, which were then translated into shared solutions. This collaborative process led to the development of tangible outputs (including a kit of illustrated playing cards, a multilingual manual and didactic sheets) all designed to foster inclusive communication in educational and community settings. Dissemination activities took place both online and offline through professional networks, local communities and European platforms, ensuring that the process and its results reached a broad and diverse audience.

Impact

The project produced a set of tangible, durable and easily transferable outputs that directly respond to the identified needs. These include a multilingual educational manual, didactic sheets and a set of illustrated cards, all designed to support inclusive and affirmative communication in educational, counselling and community contexts. All materials were co-created with participants through experiential and participatory methodologies, ensuring that the tools reflect real needs and can be adapted to different educational, support and cultural settings. The outputs are already in active use across a variety of non-formal adult education environments: tutors, educators, counsellors, psychologists and community workers have integrated the card kit and the didactic sheets into their everyday practice, using them as entry points to address language, identity and SOGIESC-related issues with adults, young people and families. Beyond the production of materials, Pitch Perfect consolidated a strong and complementary partnership between Close in the Distance and Stichting Art.1, blending the culture of local grassroots activism and community engagement with a broader European commitment to LGBTIQA+ visibility and advocacy.
