▶Objectives
With the development and implementation of the digital library, the European dissemination platform for education in prisons, we aim to ensure that anyone who is actively involved in, participates in, wants to participate in, or is interested in prison education can easily publish information (articles, research, project experiences, new teaching methods, etc.) on the platform and thereby share it with others in the language they are proficient in. Together with the platform, a comprehensive "Guide for moderators" and an article 'how to write about a project' have been developed and included in the platform. Five regional contact persons/trainers have been trained. The intention is to appoint a contact person in each EU country and to train a national trainer. The contact persons of the national departments of EPEA have been involved as contact persons. It was not possible to find national trainers (through a 'train the trainers') as well.
▶Activities
In collaboration between partners from Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, and the Netherlands, a digital platform (www.prison-education-wiki.eu) has been developed and implemented, where a translation tool allows every language to be used both by those who want to post content and by those who want to access it. Additionally, a "Guide for moderators and an article 'how to write about a project' have been developed and placed on the platform. Links have been added in the platform for using social media (EPALE, YouTube, LinkedIn, and Newsletters), enabling participants to exchange information and opinions. After October 2025, the platform will be widely accessible via a link on the EPEA.org website. To develop and implement this platform, expert staff from EPEA-NL were deployed, and the developed products were discussed and evaluated/approved during physical and online meetings. Throughout the entire project, several newsletters were drafted and distributed, and presentations about the platform and prison education in Europe were held at various international conferences.
▶Impact
The collaborative project has concretely resulted in a digital dissemination platform, including a "Guide for moderators" and an article 'how to write about a project' which is accessible to everyone via www.prison-education-wiki.eu and can be used by both the author and the reader of the content in any desired language. From October 2025, this platform will be available on the EPEA.org website; this European organization for prison education will also be responsible for moderating and maintaining the platform. Specifically, exchanges are also possible through the platform via social media such as YouTube, EPALE, LinkedIn, and the newsletters that are regularly published are available.
