We aimed to proactively prepare schools for the integration of generative AI by focusing on both practical application and policy development. We sought to empower teachers with a structured training program and toolkit, helping them incorporate AI into lesson planning and assessments while maintaining educational integrity. For school leaders, the project aimed to develop clear guidelines to shape AI policies that support teaching and learning without compromising ethical standards. By fostering dialogue between educators, policymakers, and experts, the project encouraged informed decision-making on AI use in schools. Through collaboration with partners in the Netherlands and Belgium, GAIO ensured that its findings were adaptable across different educational contexts. The project also prioritized dissemination, making resources widely available to support other schools. Ultimately, GAIO aimed to enable schools to harness AI’s potential in a responsible and educationally meaningful way.
