▶Objectives
With this project, we wanted to raise environmental awareness among students, teachers and parents, especially in the areas of rational water management and natural resource conservation. Our goal was to develop pro-environmental attitudes and promote responsible consumer behaviour. We also sought to strengthen international cooperation between schools and exchange good practices in environmental education. Another important aspect was the creation and implementation of teaching materials that will be used for further environmental education in partner schools and beyond, as the materials developed are available online to everyone. The project also aimed to develop the professional competences of teachers and enabled them to learn about innovative working methods, as well as the possible equipment and teaching aids, which could improve the everyday performance of their schools. We wanted to transform the acquired knowledge and skills into definitive actions in local communities and contribute to long-lasting changes in people’s awareness and behaviour.
▶Activities
Project activities took place throughout the entire duration of the project in partner schools and during mobilities. During each mobility, four teachers from each school (usually different teachers each time, so up to 12 teachers from each school could benefit) attended classes with students, training sessions, meetings with teaching staff, workshops and educational trips. All of those activities expanded their knowledge and skills. A significant part of the work was carried out on a daily basis in all partner schools, engaging teachers who did not participate in the mobilities, but also many students who took part in a series of lessons exploring the project topics from various perspectives across all school subjects. We organized school events with local authorities, students’ parents, and local communities. Depending on the school, excursions, contests and workshops on environmental protection were organized. Teachers who took part in the mobilities shared their knowledge with other teachers during staff meetings and other informal gatherings. Many preparatory and evaluation online meetings were organized, which proved essential for the successful implementation of the project and for drawing conclusions for the future.
▶Impact
The project achieved a number of measurable and sustainable results. High-quality teaching materials were developed – multimedia presentations, posters and worksheets – which have been permanently incorporated into the educational resources of partner schools and are now used in everyday work with students. The environmental awareness of all target groups – students, teachers and parents – has increased, particularly in the areas of responsible water management, pollution prevention and the implementation of environmentally friendly solutions in everyday life. Project participants significantly expanded their knowledge and developed their language, digital, cultural, and social skills. Observing classes in foreign schools and exchanging good practices resulted in the implementation of innovative teaching methods and increased teacher involvement in international activities. The project strengthened institutional cooperation, contributed to improving the quality of schools' performance, and built their image as modern institutions open to European cooperation. The results of the project will be continued and disseminated even after its completion.
