Objectives

O1. To investigate the current situation of Marine and Ocean Literacy on early childhood education through desk and field research. O2.To develop and pilot-test an innovative future-oriented marine and ocean literacy Toolkit O3.To sustain training efforts in marine and ocean literacy to early childhood teachers O4.To raise awareness on the target groups, associated partners, relevant stakeholders, decision-makers on the importance of marine and ocean literacy starting from early ages.

Activities

The activities of the TeachBlue project will be implemented in the form of WPs: WP1: Project management and implementation WP2: The TeachBlue State-of-the-art Report on the current situation of Marine and Ocean Literacy on early childhood education WP3: TeachBlue Toolkit including a Teacher's Curriculum, Educational Activities Guide, a Board Game, 360⁰ underwater videos WP4: TeachBlue Training Course for early childhood teachers and Pilots WP5: TeachBlue Communication and Dissemination

Impact

The innovative educational materials and activities to outreach the local schools and impact positively early childhood teachers, local educational and environmental inspectorates and policymakers, VET centres involved in teachers’ education to enhance curriculum and policies towards the inclusion of marine and ocean literacy in early childhood education to respond to the current environmental challenges regarding climate change, environmental respect, and sustainability.
