Objectives

Our primary goal was to support students with special educational needs using music therapy, a therapeutic method new to each participating school. We also envisioned that the project would deepen musical interests and skills, and through online presentations about the history and distinctive compositions of each country, increase knowledge of the music of the partner countries among students and staff of all partner schools. The project also aimed to develop musical interests and skills. It was also intended to equip the school with musical instruments and teaching aids used in music therapy classes and for the implementation of the project. We also wanted students from our schools to gather during the 'Sounds of Our Hearts' song festival, where each school presented its repertoire and produced a short documentary film depicting the implementation of music therapy classes at their school. The festival was intended to showcase the musical skills of students with various disabilities, which would positively impact their image in a healthy society.

Activities

Thanks to the project, the following was achieved: - Music therapy courses were completed by at least five teachers from each school; - At least 150 hours of active and receptive music therapy classes for students with disabilities were conducted in each school; - A script with music therapy outlines was developed and a database of songs for use in classes was created; - Videos of music therapy classes in each school were recorded; - Each country presented its music history and musical traditions online; - All schools learned one song from each country; - A song with multilingual lyrics was composed; - An open concert was organized for the residents of Krapkowice, showcasing the musical skills of students from all partner schools; - The 'International Song Festival – Sounds of Our Hearts' was organized; - A music video was recorded for the song composed together, presenting the experiences of the participants during the festival.

Impact

The project's outcomes include: - improving the qualifications of teachers working in partner schools; - introducing music therapy as a new therapeutic method to the range of therapeutic activities offered at each institution; - increasing the musical interests and skills of students and teachers at partner schools; - publishing a script with music therapy lesson plans in each country; - a database of songs for use in music therapy classes; - recording documentaries of music therapy classes with disabled students in each school; - familiarizing students with the music of each country, learning one song from each country, and releasing a CD with these songs in each country; - composing their own song and recording a music video for it.
