Objectives

The main objective of the Erasmus+ Education for Future and Safety (SAFE) project was to strengthen the capacity of primary schools to educate young people about safety, resilience, and responsibility in the context of global challenges. The project aimed to develop, test, and implement innovative cross-curricular educational tools that help teachers integrate the concept of safety and well-being into different school subjects. Specific objectives included: - Creating a methodological guide for teachers and two comprehensive sets of lesson plans on psychological, social, and environmental safety. - Developing a multilingual Online Learning Platform providing free and open access to all materials. - Enhancing teachers’ competences in digital pedagogy, emotional education, and sustainability. - Supporting students in developing key competences such as empathy, cooperation, critical thinking, and civic engagement. - Promoting shared European values — inclusion, democracy, and care for the environment, as foundations for a safer and more resilient society.

Activities

The Erasmus+ Education for Future and Safety (SAFE) project was an innovative international collaboration between schools from Poland, Finland, Portugal, and Denmark. The partnership combined pedagogical expertise, creativity, and digital innovation to establish a new educational approach addressing safety, well-being, and sustainability in the face of global challenges. Implementation was structured across four Work Packages: WP2 developed a methodological guide for integrating safety into everyday teaching; WP3 and WP4 created and tested 40 cross-curricular lesson plans fostering empathy, resilience, and environmental awareness; WP5 compiled all outputs into a multilingual Online Learning Platform with 52 digital Companion Tools, ensuring free long-term access for educators. Teachers and students collaborated during testing phases, international meetings, and online workshops, encouraging innovation and intercultural exchange. SAFE proved that with structured cooperation and creative resources, schools can successfully respond to the social, emotional, and environmental challenges faced by young learners today.

Impact

The Erasmus+ Education for Future and Safety (SAFE) project created an innovative educational package supporting schools in addressing psychological, social, and environmental safety through cross-curricular learning. Key results include: 1) the Education for Future and Safety Methodological Guide for Teachers, providing a clear framework and practical tools for implementing safety education in primary schools; 2) two thematic sets of 20 lesson plans: – ‘European Skills for Social and Psychological Safety and Well-being of Young Teenagers’ (WP3), – ‘Climate Change Threats and Energy Safety’ (WP4), fostering empathy, resilience, critical thinking, and sustainable behaviours; 3) 52 digital Companion Tools (games, presentations, online quizzes) enriching classroom practice; 4) the multilingual Education for Future and Safety Online Learning Platform (www.erasmus-safe.eu), ensuring free and long-term access to all outputs in five languages. All materials were jointly created, tested, and validated by international teams of teachers and experts, ensuring high quality and adaptability. Beyond tangible outputs, the project enhanced teachers’ competences and established a sustainable model for teaching safety and well-being across Europe
