Incubating Freedom for Ukraine - building IT competence among Ukrainian war refugees residing in EU countries

The war in Ukraine resulted in emergence of millions war refugees, mostly women, in EU countries. To include them into the community of present residence, it’s necessary to help them acquire the skills sought on the job market, in particular those in IT. It is not possible without involvement of HEIs operating within their 'Third Mission'. The aim of IFU project is to prepare EU HEIs strategy for helping re-train refugees and reduce the shortage of IT specialists in EU and post-war Ukraine.

As part of the IFU, reports will be prepared on refugees’ employment in PL, CZ, HU, analyzes of labor market for IT staff with basic skills. Pilot training courses will be conducted by academic partners (10 courses, 300 people). Based on the research and the results of the courses, a strategy will be developed for EU universities to re-train refugees from Ukraine, as part of 'Third Mission', including 'micro credentials'. Two dissemination conferences will be organized and video tools prepared.

The direct results of the project will be: report on refugee in PL, CZ and HU, training of 300 refugees, a report on the IT market, designing 10 courses, video & social media tools, and two dissemination seminars. Strategy developed and tested for the university 'Third Mission' to improve the competences of refugees from Ukraine will help include them into the European society and EU labor market. IFU recommendations will also facilitate adaptation of refugees from countries other than Ukraine.
