▶Objectives
The SDIT project has as its main objective the promotion of self-determination and the inclusion of young people and adults with autism through theater, by training actors and other collaborators of theater groups in order to prepare them for the inclusion of people with autism in their activities. Through an innovative pilot methodology we aim to demonstrate that inclusion of people with autism through theater is facilitated if its collaborators are duly capacitated.
▶Activities
The project will design and implement a pilot course directed to 36 theater collaborators in Portugal, Spain and Italy, in order to prepare them for the inclusion of people with autism in theater contexts. Several transnational meetings will be held in order to prepare three national seminars, one international seminar and one international webinar. One learning activity about inclusive theater to increase knowledge in the context of innovative methodologies in the area of inclusive theater.
▶Impact
Increase the number of theaters capacitated to include people with autism in their activities; Elaboration of a course that can be adapted and implemented in multiple sectors of activity and to different disabilities; Submission of a scientific article in a indexed peer reviewed journal; Increase of employment oportunities for people with autism in activities linked to the theater domain; Development of a "European Hanbook of Inclusion through Theatre" to be made available online for free.
