Objectives

Through the implementation of the project, we aimed to support professionals in the medico-social field in developing specific skills for sensory integration therapy to make a significant contribution to improving the quality of care and assistance for elderly individuals, with a focus on those with mental health issues. We sought to promote alternative and complementary therapies, such as sensory integration therapy and cognitive-behavioral therapy, as effective methods for enhancing the quality of life for elderly individuals. Integrating these therapies into care practices can bring significant benefits to the health and well-being of the elderly. We intended to develop a practical, easy-to-use guide that provides practical information and resources for professionals and caregivers of individuals diagnosed with neurocognitive disorders. The purpose of this guide is to offer concrete recommendations and strategies for improving the therapeutic process and the quality of life for elderly individuals. By disseminating the results of the project, we aimed to leverage these outcomes to make them accessible to professionals in the medico-social field, caregivers, and other interested parties.

Activities

The first step involved forming the project team, defining the roles and responsibilities of each member. Organizing and implementing events for the launch of the project. Organizing and implementing study visits and job shadowing activities within our partnership, providing professionals and caregivers the opportunity to learn and acquire new knowledge and skills through direct interaction with experts and practitioners in the field. Developing and creating a course for professional training in the field of sensory integration including theoretical and practical training modules, tailored to the needs and requirements of professionals in the field. Organizing and implementing four training events for 10 professionals. Two of these events focused on theoretical training, while the other two focused on practical training, offering participants the opportunity to learn and apply therapeutic approaches and techniques during practical activities. Developing/writing an easy-to-use practical guide for specialists and caregivers of individuals diagnosed with dementia. Disseminating the project result National Alzheimer Conference followed by local and international symposium. Book launch event. Sensory trip to Făget Forest Park
