Objectives

The SenSyn project aimed to promote active ageing and lifelong learning among seniors and to improve the competences of adult educators working with older learners. The main objectives were to develop innovative, inclusive, and accessible learning opportunities that support seniors in maintaining physical and mental well-being and to create new educational tools that adult educators could use in their daily work. Through transnational cooperation, partners developed a Digital Database of good practices, a Training Programme for empowering lifelong learning and healthy living, and a Toolkit for trainers. These results strengthened the professional skills of adult education staff, encouraged intergenerational learning, and promoted active participation of seniors in community life. The project also aimed to raise awareness about the importance of active and healthy lifestyles after retirement and to reduce stereotypes about ageing. By combining educational and recreational activities, SenSyn contributed to the inclusion of older adults in lifelong learning and created sustainable learning models that can be transferred and used across Europe.

Activities

Project Management where partners developed the Project Management Handbook, the Evaluation and Quality Assurance plan, Risk Management plan, Dissemination plan, and the Sustainability plan. Partners created the project logo and website to ensure visibility, and hold regular online coordination meetings. Second activity focused on research and the development of the Digital Database of good practices in active ageing and adult education. Partners collected and analysed over 40 examples of innovative practices, which served as a basis for the web tool. At activity three the consortium developed and piloted a Training Programme combining educational and recreational modules for seniors. Each partner tested the programme nationally and provided feedback for improvement. Activity four produced the Toolkit for trainers and delivered training sessions for future educators. Finally activity consisted of four large-scale community events (Senioriade) and a final conference in Samobor, which together reached more than 500 seniors and numerous educators, ensuring visibility, dissemination, and sustainability of project results.

Impact

- Digital Database of innovative educational practices and tools, containing over 40 examples of good practices in active ageing and lifelong learning; - Training Programme for empowering lifelong learning and healthy living, consisting of 8 educational and recreational modules, developed, piloted, and validated in partner countries; - Toolkit for trainers, providing methodological guidance, lesson plans, and practical approaches for implementing the SenSyn programme in the future; - Project website available in English, Slovenian, and Croatian language, serving as the main platform for dissemination and exploitation of results; - Four community events (Senioriade) and a final conference in Samobor, reaching 711 seniors, 91 organisations, and 20 trained adult educators. Beyond these tangible outputs, the project resulted in improved cooperation among adult education institutions, enhanced skills of trainers, and increased awareness of active ageing and healthy living at both national and European levels.
