▶Objectives
The primary objectives of the project were: (1) to create permanent, sustainable, digital and multilingual learning and teaching tools, methods and practices for developing healthy lifestyle habits and preventing obesity in the university environement; (2) to create tools and practises for developing a sensitive communication competences in the field of obesity which is necessary to avoid stigmatization; (3) to prepare guidelines for university canteen staff on including techniques for preparation of healthy meals, and (4) to implement and accreditate the project results at the university level. This corresponds with the chosen priorities of “Stimulating awareness on healthy lifestyle habits” and “Building inclusive higher education systems”. All objectives can be included in the higher education programs at the university level and were developed for the target group of students and young adults, but, considering the importance of preventing obesity and developing healthy lifestyle habits, the project outcomes can also be used by other sectors of society. All project outcomes were translated into 6 partners' languages (Engish, Slovene, Slovak, Portuguese, Norwegian and Croatian).
▶Activities
-WP2: online survey for students in all partner countries on healthy lifestyle habits (1533 students' responses); developing a digital handbook on preventing obesity; project kick-off meeting; a multiplier event (webinar); -WP3: desktop research on official guidelines for canteen staff; an online workshop for partners and target groups; pre- and post-questionnaires on preparation of healthy meals for canteen staff; implementation of posters for canteen staff; transnational meeting; a multiplier event (a conference). -WP4: developing guidelines for a a sensitive communication "How to communicate without offending" based on surveys by 1102 students from all partner countries; guidelines of the use of machine translation technology in the health domain and the importance of terminology; partners' meeting; a multiplier event (webinar) -WP5: designing a curriculum for a course on preventing obesity and developing healthy lifestyle habits; a multiplier event (a webinar); field research and testing procedures for fast implementation of the new curriculum; partners' meeting. -WP 6: implementation and piloting of the curriculum and all didactic material; a multiplier event and a final conference; accreditation of the new course.
▶Impact
All outputs and results were digital and multilingual in 6 languages (English, Slovak, Slovene, Portuguese, Croatian and Norwegian): (1) A digital, interactive handbook on preventing obesity and developing healthy lifestyle habits in the university environment based on the results of the survey filled in by 1533 students from all partner countries available at: https://sites.google.com/g.uporto.pt/edu-fit/handbook; (2) A curriculum for the course on developing healthy lifestyle habits and preventing obesity which consists of 5 modules: https://sites.google.com/g.uporto.pt/edu-fit/curriculum (3) Creation, implementation and evaluation of posters with easily accessible tips/advice for preparation of healthy meals for university canteen staff: https://sites.google.com/g.uporto.pt/edu-fit/outcomes; (4) Developing guidelines for developing sensitive communication skills in the filed of obesity in everyday and in medical environment: https://sites.google.com/g.uporto.pt/edu-fit/sensitive-communication; (5) Implementation of the curriculum and the handbook with 122 students taking part in the piloting phase and accreditation of the curriculum.
