▶Objectives
The project aimed to address the lack of structured education on the textile industry and its environmental impact. As of January 1, 2025, textile waste is officially part of the sorted waste system, requiring increased awareness among young people as well as educational and support staff. Our goal was to present this issue through an accessible and visually engaging format—a documentary film that captures the entire lifecycle of textiles, from production to their end as waste. The film highlights the long-term ecological footprint of textile waste, one of today’s critical global challenges. The digital platform eduwasteonline.com serves as a key educational tool, providing methodological support and practical resources that help integrate the film effectively into the curriculum. This approach ensures the sustainability of the project’s results within formal education and beyond.
▶Activities
The project was structured into logically connected work packages—from coordination and methodology development for the digital platform, to the production of the documentary film, implementation of eduwasteonline.com, and dissemination and statistical evaluation of outputs. These packages followed one another or overlapped, ensuring a smooth implementation process. Each package included partner meetings, online consultations, and outreach activities to promote the project even during its execution. A major advantage was the project’s continuity from a previous “small project,” making its outcomes eagerly awaited in schools. Initial success came with the launch of eduwasteonline.com and especially after the documentary’s premiere in September 2024, when the film became available on the platform in all partner languages.
▶Impact
The project delivered two key outputs aimed at the educational sector—a digital platform, eduwasteonline.com, and the educational documentary film 'Dawn and Dusk of Clothes.' A major contribution includes the methodological tools available on the platform, designed to support educators in working with students. These resources include explanatory texts, quizzes, posters, and detailed guidelines on how to integrate the film into teaching. All materials were developed in multiple languages and are fully applicable in the partner countries. The digital platform also generates statistical data on user engagement, allowing us to monitor the project's actual reach. Already during implementation, we observed strong interest from schools in downloading the film for educational purposes. We believe that continued engagement with these resources in the coming months will further strengthen the long-term impact and sustainability of the project.
