▶Objectives
The main objective of the project was to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and values needed to understand and address environmental issues, while developing green skills. It aimed to bring together students from diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds through sports, art, and digital activities that promote sustainability, inclusion, and diversity. Strengthening participants’ digital competences and foreign language skills to enhance international cooperation, and encouraging the exchange of innovative and sustainable teaching methods among teachers, were key goals. The project also sought to increase disadvantaged students’ self-confidence, creativity, and social integration, fostering long-term behavioural change that would lead them to apply sustainable practices in daily life. In doing so, students would be encouraged to become ambassadors for environmental protection, raising awareness within their communities.
▶Activities
The project was implemented in three countries through two Transnational Project Meetings (TPMs) and three Learning-Teaching-Training Activities (LTTPMs). The 1st LTTPM in Spain, themed “ Digitalisation and Sustainability,” included creating visual designs of sports products from recyclable materials, digital presentations in the media room, research on sustainability, workshops on e-waste management, and eco-friendly digital design activities. The 2nd LTTPM in Romania, focused on “Sports and Sustainability,” featured designing sports equipment from recyclable materials. At Iași University, students learned from experts about the effects of pollution on plants through microscopic examinations. Winter activities such as sledding and skiing, as well as nature walks and community clean-ups, were also organized. The 3rd LTTPM in Türkiye, themed “ Art and Sustainability,” included Ebru marbling, hand-painting as a project souvenir, cultural trips, nature excursions, and free drawing, and a seminar at Arel University on producing sustainable materials from waste using polymer technology, the redesign of each country’s national symbols using recycled materials, cultural visits, and collaborative workshops.
▶Impact
The project produced a website and an e-book showcasing green skills in sports, art, and digitalisation. “Eco-Clubs” were established in each school, organising monthly sustainability activities.Eco-Club curriculum from 3-country activitiesParticipants created artworks, sports products, and eco-friendly digital designs from recycled materials, and by sharing their schools’ artistic, sports, and digital work, they gained new perspectives, enhanced cultural interaction, and developed fresh ideas. Seminars on environmental protection and sustainability were held at universities in Romania and Türkiye. SWOT analyses and surveys measured positive changes in students’ knowledge, skills, and attitudes. Students improved their foreign language, digital skills, creativity, and intercultural understanding, while disadvantaged participants gained self-confidence and social integration. Teachers adopted innovative, sustainability-focused teaching methods. Strong partnerships were built among partner schools, and dissemination activities in local communities encouraged the adoption of sustainable behaviours. The project fostered long-term environmental awareness and a culture of responsibility for participants and their surroundings.
