Primary objectives achieved within this project were, advancing awareness, inclusion, and support for autistic individuals in Austria and Portugal. Through 10 in-depth autobiographical interviews, the project highlighted the lived experiences of autistic adults, providing valuable insights that helped correct misconceptions. The Aut of the Box Autism Manual and an online library furthered this effort, offering resources and personal perspectives that foster understanding. Collaborative engagements with autistic and non-autistic stakeholders enabled the co-creation of national and EU policy recommendations, guiding improved autism support and recognition. These recommendations were effectively presented to policymakers, strengthening advocacy for autism-friendly policies at both national and EU levels. Additionally, the project achieved its goal of building an online resource hub with over 180 curated entries, empowering autistic individuals, families, and allies with diverse, accurate resources to support personal and community growth.
