▶Objectives
Our project aimed to promote equal opportunities and strengthen inclusion for young people from disadvantaged backgrounds. We sought to enhance expertise in inclusion and gender equality, improving the quality of our educational programs by integrating a gender perspective and building the capacity of our teaching teams. Our goal was to create inclusive learning environments where all young people, regardless of origin or identity, have equal chances to succeed. We empowered youth by raising awareness on gender and sexual identity issues and providing them with tools for self-expression and advocacy. To achieve this, we delivered specialized training to TADA’s teaching staff, developed tailored educational resources, and conducted workshops with young people. We also collaborated with key stakeholders to build a support network around these themes. Together, we are making a positive impact and contributing to a fairer, more equitable society.
▶Activities
1. The ‘Project management and research’ activity enabled us to define the project's objectives, form the teams, set deadlines, allocate resources and draw up a detailed plan. The aim was to ensure that the project stayed on track, achieved its objectives and stayed on budget and on schedule. 2. The ‘Mutual exchange of good practice’ activity consisted of a visit from TADA to IPES in Slovenia to share knowledge and good practice between the two organisations. 3. The activity ‘Co-creation of a workshop as part of the course on gender stereotyped professions’ enabled the creation of a programme of activities for a TADA Saturday on the theme of gender stereotypes linked to professions. 4. As part of the ‘Organisation of training courses and workshops’ activity, TADA set up a 2-stage training course for its teaching team in order, firstly, to raise the team's awareness of gender issues and, secondly, to present the workshops co-created with IPES. IPES came to observe the implementation of the workshops in one of TADA's classes. 5. The ‘Communication and dissemination’ activity promoted the project's objectives and results.
▶Impact
The project resulted in several concrete outputs. We facilitated the exchange of best practices between IPES and TADA, and delivered two one-hour training sessions for the TADA teaching team on gender issues and practical workshop implementation. We developed a comprehensive program, including workshops co-created with IPES, translated into French and Dutch, along with necessary materials and evaluation forms. This program was delivered to 210 young people across 7 French-speaking classes in 3 Brussels communes, supported by 28 volunteer facilitators. We organized a multi-stakeholder conference in Slovenia, which included training for 27 teaching professionals. A manual was created in English, Slovene, and French to guide educators in integrating gender perspectives when working with socially vulnerable children. Additionally, two trainings for migrant parents in Slovenia covered gender issues and non-discrimination practices, attended by 23 participants. We also held an online multi-stakeholder consultation with 15 participants on the gender-sensitive integration of migrant and refugee children.
