Objectives

The Re-cognition project aims to establish strong connections between formal and non-formal education institutions in Europe. It promotes sustainable NGO-University partnerships, enhances awareness of non-formal education's profound impact, fosters quality in educational activities through best practice sharing and combining formal with non-formal, and actively pursues the formal recognition of non-formal education, such as volunteering, for the attainment of ECTS credits at universities.

Activities

The project will include facilitating discussion between NGOs and universities to explore the essential conditions for formally recognizing activities like volunteering for ECTS credits. We will actively advocate for the significance of Non-Formal Education (NFE) and develop portfolios enabling university students to engage in NGO initiatives. Our efforts will prioritize the promotion of NFE, with a strong emphasis on experiential learning through pilot testing innovative activities.

Impact

Establishing a network of at least 20 partnerships with universities to facilitate collaboration. Moreover, we aspire to gain formal recognition for the volunteering experiences of a minimum of 30 students, enhancing their understanding of competency development through non-formal education. Additionally, by conducting research at one of our partner universities, we will focus on better understanding of the impact of experiential learning to further strengthen our case.
