Objectives

Two partner organisations were involved in the project. While ISIS had already developed and worked on the idea of ‘Culture on Prescription’ in another project context, the partner SPKV was new to this field. At the same time, SPKV has extensive practical experience in cultural and educational work. The aim of the project was to bring these two areas of expertise together and discuss how the could be implemented in the partner countries. In addition to the important goal of knowledge transfer between the two organisations, the exchange with other actors was also a priority. Interviews with interesting stakeholders and projects in the partner countries focused in particular on the question of how and in what context measures had already been implemented or could be implemented. Based on these interviews and further expert discussions, the aim was to identify common starting points for implementation and to determine who could take on the role of link worker. The objective was not only to look at political structures, but also, and above all, to consider at a practical and low-threshold level how measures can be implemented in local communities by local actors in order to promote inclusion and combat loneliness.

Activities

Various activities were carried out as part of the project with the aim of creating an exchange between the two partner organisations. The goal was to stimulate discussion about the concept of ‘culture on prescription’ and how it could be implemented in the partner countries. The most important aspect was to examine the practical implementation and to incorporate external opinions and points of view in this context. To this end, experts, adult educators and artists were also interviewed. Two outputs were developed to promote the dissemination of the content and the concept. Interviews were conducted and a small desk research project was carried out for this purpose. Another activity was a study visit to Prague, which was expanded into a small conference during the course of the project, significantly increasing its impact. Various stakeholders from Czechia as well as visitors from Germany and Slovakia met here. Projects and content were presented, discussions were held and workshops were conducted. It was a very exciting place for exchange.

Impact

In addition to the exchange between the partners, the two most important results of the project are a compendium and a practical guide. The compendium is a 20-page document that summarises the project discussions from a transnational perspective and presents the most important ideas that emerged from the discussions and the results from the national interviews and the desk research. The result is based on interviews, national reports and joint discussions. It reflects the current state of knowledge and is intended to provide inspiration for the practical implementation of the ‘culture on prescription’ approach. It also highlights examples of good practice from the two partner countries. The practical guide is a handbook designed to accompany and guide the practical implementation of measures. The guide is based on interviews and discussions with experts. It became clear that various artists, adult educators and organisations from the cultural sector already offer relevant services. The guide contains suggestions on how these can be bundled within the ‘Culture on Prescription’ approach and used specifically to combat loneliness.
