▶Objectives
With our project, we aimed to achieve two main objectives. First, we wanted to actively involve our students in research and various hands-on activities related to nature and environmental issues, enabling them to: Understand the root causes of environmental problems and propose meaningful solutions Develop a stronger sense of responsibility toward the natural world Become more aware of the environmental threats facing their local communities Identify solutions and take concrete actions that promote respectful interaction with nature and support effective environmental protection Our second objective was to strengthen students' ICT skills, with a particular focus on developing their proficiency in essential tools such as Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, and Word. Another objective was to reduce students’ fear of public speaking and to empower them with the communication skills and confidence needed to succeed in professional environments. This was achieved through various activities and workshops that were closely connected to our two other main objectives.
▶Activities
Before each mobility, our students conducted research on specific environmental issues. They created presentations on these topics and shared them with partner schools during the mobilities. During the mobilities, students continued to explore these subjects—both in the classroom and on excursions—where they could observe environmental problems and potential solutions firsthand. Outside the mobilities, a wide range of activities took place that were closely connected to the project’s core themes. These included tree-planting campaigns in cooperation with the local community, the continuation and revitalization of the school garden, and the installation of nesting boxes. Students participated in various workshops focused on data mining. They effectively presented their findings using different Microsoft Office tools. In addition, they shared their experiences with peers by organizing peer-led workshops and producing short, informative videos offering tips and tricks for using these digital tools. We also conducted workshops specifically for teachers to enhance their digital competencies. Each mobility included sessions aimed at reducing stage fright and developing communication skills, helping students become more confident.
▶Impact
Throughout our project, a wide range of outputs and results were produced. One of outcomes was a series of presentations created by each partner school on region-specific environmental topics: Germany: Drought, rising energy prices, and adaptation strategies Türkiye: Waste management, water quality, and urbanization Greece: Changes in biodiversity and the impact of invasive species During andbetween the mobilities, we carried out several hands-on environmental activities. Together with the local community, we planted trees both on our school campuses and in public spaces. We revitalized the school garden and the bee and butterfly meadow, built nesting boxes for birds, constructed insect hotels, and more. Another important result of the project was the development of a comprehensive learning module consisting of short, instructive videos offering tips and tricks for effectively using Microsoft Office tools. These digital materials were shared with colleagues at our own and neighboring schools, and they are now actively used in computing lessons. After each mobility, newsletters were published to share updates. Each partner also prepared a report outlining activities at their school and in the local community.
