▶Objectives
The project integrated themes of environmental awareness, innovative teaching and learning practices, and healthy lifestyles, aiming to foster competence building, providing experience with diverse environmental and cultural contexts, and enhancing the effeciency of teaching and learning. We expected the involved students to improve their knowledge on natural sciences and environment, as well as to raise their motivation to see the link between learning and real life, and teachers to gain insights for designing and implementing cross-curricular studies in the field of natural sciences. We relied on international partnerships to provide fresh perspectives and explore new approaches—it's often invigorating to see how others operate, as it helps us re-evaluate and refine our own methodologies. For both students and teachers, the international collaboration was intended to broaden horizons on both personal and academic levels. It also aimed to encourage more confident interaction with peers and colleagues, not only for social engagement but also for academic cooperation.
▶Activities
During the project both international and local activities took place, eTwinning was used in parallel as a platform for sharing and preserving memories and experiences throughout the project. Four international study sessions - one to each partner school- were implemented involving students and teachers from all partner schools. Additionally, all the participating schools implemented local activities in their schools and/or communities to promote environmental consciousness, effective learning/teaching practices, and healthy living and attitudes. There were on-going activities taking place in each project partner school over the course of the project such as photographing the cycles of nature around the school, measuring the rainfall, and carrying out activities around school gardens. Twice during the project international video conferences were held, bringing together students and teachers from all four partner schools. These meetings helped keep the project topic alive and maintained student engagement throughout the process. As a result of the project, the involved schools developed examples of cross-curricular teaching modules in the field of natural sciences, as well as tested the teaching modules with their students.
▶Impact
Tangible results: - A dedicated eTwinning TwinSpace page was created, showcasing the range of activities carried out by all partner schools. - Four international study sessions were organized- one to each partner school- forming the core of the project’s experiential learning component. - Local level activities were implemented in participating schools, and ongoing online collaboration kept up to ensure continuous engagement and focus. - Cross-curricular teaching modules in the field of natural sciences were developed for enriching the curriculum and actively engaging students, latter also offering lasting value to educators beyond the project. The cooperation between the four EU partner schools fostered a network for long-term collaboration. It supported the sharing of best practices, mutual learning, and increased institutional capacity to implement further interdisciplinary and international projects.
