▶Objectives
The main objective of B-Glocal was to develop educational resources that raise awareness and empower people over the age of 55 in the fight against climate change by helping them take positive individual action. The project was designed to achieve specific objectives that are aligned with the European Union's priorities on climate change and adult education. These objectives include: • To raise awareness among people over 55 of the challenges posed by climate change and of the active policies in place at local, national and EU levels. • To provide educational resources to help them better understand the causes and impact of climate change, enabling them to apply climate-neutral strategies in their daily lives. • To mobilize them as active agents in the green transition. • To strength local, regional, and European partnerships to create synergies that utilise the project's results and effectively impact adult learners. The project sought to break down barriers and demonstrate that age is no barrier to climate action and that older people can be role models for younger generations.
▶Activities
B-Glocal has implemented, besides the transversal ones, a series of practical and participatory activities, focusing on: 1. The creation of innovative educational resources: • 9 interactive micro-lessons on key topics (energy, waste, food or transport) available in 4 languages. • 40 gamified thematic challenges (40-days challenge) to deepen knowledge and encourage behavioural change. • A digital platform accessible from any device (tablets, mobile phones or PCs). • A manual for trainers with specific guidelines for using the project's resources and ideas and examples of activities and methodologies for training the most vulnerable over-55s. 2. Implementation of workshops: • 3 Local workshops (in 5 sessions) in collaboration with local organisations to promote the creation of synergies and joint work with over-55s. • 1 transnational workshop with adult trainers to discuss the project's results, suitability, quality, and short-, medium-, and long-term potential. All face-to-face activities prioritised the use of informal spaces, such as social centres and libraries, to reach the most vulnerable people.
▶Impact
The project has produced four main results: R1. The B-Glocal educational platform, with a set of resources aimed at raising awareness, training and empowering adults over the age of 55, especially those with more vulnerable profiles. It includes: • 9 micro-lessons, in the form of interactive modules, which clarify basic concepts, provide key data and illustrate the reality of climate change in a practical way that is directly linked to everyday life. • The 40-days challenge comprises 40 gamified challenges designed to explore key ideas, concepts and habits in greater depth. These challenges relate to the content of the modules and include a variety of different games. R2. Manual for trainers on the environment and climate change, with practical guidance, examples and recommendations for carrying out training activities with vulnerable adults. R3. Local workshops with adults over 55, in dynamic and participatory sessions on the themes of the project. R4. Transnational workshop with adult trainers, as a forum for presentation, debate and generation of ideas on adult education on climate change.
