▶Objectives
We wanted to develop in students an awareness of European citizenship and an understanding of how two different democratic systems function. The practical objective was to guide students through the voting process and to help overcome any apprehensions related to this civic exercise.
▶Activities
Numerous educational activities focusing on European citizenship and institutions were implemented in both schools during the mobility periods. The central element of this work was the practice of a “mock” vote in each school on the occasion of the European parliamentary elections of 9 June 2024.
▶Impact
The concrete outcomes are : - organization of a mock vote in both schools in spring 2024 - analysis and comparison of the results between the two partner countries - placing the results in perspective with the actual outcomes - creation of a guide for organizing mock votes in upper secondary schools for future electoral events - reflection on the legislative process of a European law within the various institutions - work on major environmental laws recently adopted - work on respect for human rights within EU member states - discovery of protected natural sites in each of the two countries
