Through the project “MobiEco for all”, we aimed to transmit environmental values and raise young people’s awareness of eco-responsibility. All our choices of service providers and activities were guided by this commitment, whether it was traveling to Italy by coach (due to works in the Maurienne) or returning to France by train. In doing so, we showed our students that it is possible to organize study trips abroad while limiting their carbon footprint. Developing students’ professional skills remained a priority: organizing a stay, welcoming counterparts within the school, and promoting inclusion and diversity in education, training, youth, and sport. This approach was particularly meaningful in our vocational high school, where 80% of students come from disadvantaged and multicultural backgrounds, compared with their Italian counterparts from more privileged and bicultural (Italian and Slovenian) families. This encounter fostered a rich exchange of practices and traditions, from typical dishes to spoken languages, contributing to genuine mutual enrichment on both human and cultural levels.

We implemented activities that, from a logistical perspective, enabled the planning of mobilities abroad and, from a linguistic perspective, encouraged peer-to-peer exchanges in English. During the visits, we made sure to mix class groups, thereby strengthening student relationships and fostering the development of their oral skills. Upstream, students collaborated through the eTwinning platform, engaging in pedagogical sequences jointly designed by Ms. Ferluga Jeretin and Ms. Chupin. During the mobilities, they were able to put their efforts into practice by taking part in cultural activities with an ecological dimension. At the end of the project, the experience was extended to two other classes — Première Accueil and Seconde Gestion Administration Logistique — in order to ensure the sustainability of the Erasmus legacy within Lycée Paul Painlevé. Today, these classes are working together on the implementation of recycling bins throughout the school. It was indeed important to us that MobiEco leave a lasting footprint beyond the mobilities.

The concrete achievements of the project were numerous. Students first took charge of organizing the mobilities, designed “by the students, for the students,” while actively participating in the pedagogical sequences in English. In Italy, they explored various environmental dimensions: visiting Miramare Castle, the Bioma, and the Antarctic Museum; attending a lecture on climate change delivered by a professor-researcher from the University of Trieste; spending a day in Venice focused on rising sea levels; and taking an excursion to Postojnska Cave in Slovenia. In France, activities continued with visits to the Cité des Sciences and the Louvre, as well as the creation of the Climate Fresco in collaboration with the association L’écho de Ki Ei. Cultural activities were also included to strengthen bonds and encourage communication in English: bowling in Italy, visiting the Eiffel Tower, strolling along the Seine (Luxembourg Gardens, Trocadéro, Invalides), exploring Montmartre and the Sacré-Cœur, and visiting the Palace of Versailles. These initiatives led to concrete results: 100% of the students involved in the project passed the Reception BTEC National. To ensure the project’s objectives, recycling bins were installed at Painlevé.
