We wanted to raise 25 European film professionals' awareness and upgrade their skills on environmental and social issues, to help them incorporate these topics in their creativity process and write more sustainable and inclusive fictional narratives. Indeed, stories shape our representation of the world. And more than stories, they are narratives. Always evolving, they influence our representation of the world and our behavior. Today, planetary limits are exceeded, climate is disrupting, and wealth inequalities continue to grow. To take action, part of the solution lies in the deployment of new frames of reference, embodying a more supportive, inclusive and sustainable society. Culture, cinema through fiction, has precisely the power to create and disseminate new models. It embodies our relationship to the world, opens up possibilities, leads to action through emotion, and can counterbalance the current futuristic dystopian projections that prevent us from taking action. By implementing the project we wanted to raise awareness, train and educate professionals in the audiovisual and cinematographic industry, and on a larger scale, bring up on screens new models of society to the general public.

Our franco-italian partnership aimed to implement a professional training residency open to European scriptwriters and script editors. After having collaboratively prepared and adapted the proposed content, we raised their awareness on social and environmental issues, trained them in the use of specific tools and provided individual support to help them develop in a more inclusive and sustainable way their feature film project. We conducted an impact assessment, to deploy the results and replicate the project at a larger scale.

With this training, we enhanced the knowledge and the skills of 25 film professionals in environmental and social issues ; we provided them with innovative insights nurturing their creativity and developing their project management skills ; we gave them the opportunity to meet other professionals, create profond bounds and exchange peer-to-peer practices ; we help them to rewrite their feature films projects with the guidance of experienced professionals ; we gave them the possibility to propose to the general public new models of society with the power to positively impact the imagination of the audience, inspiring them to act for a more sustainable and inclusive society.
