The overall aim of the ‘The European Kids Musical Trip’ project is to develop mandolin teaching by making it accessible to audiences far removed from the cultural offer. In this way, the project will encourage cultural inclusion and open up new teaching perspectives in the arts. Our overall intention is structured around three intermediate objectives. Firstly, to devise an innovative teaching method for the mandolin that can meet the practical needs of teachers. Secondly, to experiment and refine this method with the children who will benefit from it. Finally, to disseminate it widely to other music teaching professionals, so that they can adopt it and adapt it to other educational contexts.

Three types of activities were set up during the project. Activities with the beneficiary children: group workshops, individual or duo masterclasses, sectional rehearsals and orchestra rehearsals. Activities with the teaching teams: role-playing and teaching scenarios, exchanges of practice, brainstorming workshops and meetings to prepare for the conferences. Public activities: five final concerts involving adults and children, public rehearsals allowing spectators to discover the pedagogical process, and two conferences on the issues, results and pedagogical perspectives of the project. Virtual activities to create educational content also took place.

A number of events were organised: two professional meetings of the teaching team and three children's mobility trips, which gave rise to learning activities. Several multiplier events were also organised: feedback concerts and public conferences. In practical terms, the project has led to the creation of a mandolin teaching method in the form of teaching sheets available on the website we created to publicize our project. There is also a preface introducing the project, instructions for using the method and summaries of all the events. We have also produced two videos of the conferences organised as part of the project. The ‘The European Kids Musical Trip’ website is therefore the concrete production and culmination of the project, where all the results and achievements can be found. All these elements are translated into the three languages of the project (French, Italian and Portuguese).
