▶Objectives
Frequently young people are unable to make the most of youth activities due to a lack of engagement and emotional self-regulation. The objective of the READY project is to develop a programme that will address this by bringing young people to an optimal mental state before they start the activities. This programme will combine two existing approaches, one derived from yoga-based techniques and the other restorative practice that have had considerable success with young people already.
▶Activities
During the project, we will first design and develop the new combined programme with activities that youth workers can use to prepare young people more effectively for activities, which will then be implemented in a pilot in three countries. In order to ensure sustainability through ownership by the youth workers of the programme, we are also going to develop and facilitate a community of users of the programme who will share their experiences, good practice and cases with each other.
▶Impact
The first main outcome of the project is the READY programme, which is a programme of activities and advice that youth workers can use within their everyday sessions in order to prepare the young people ensure that they are ready for the activities. In addition to this, we will develop a community of users who will share their experiences using the programme in diverse contexts. That will allow us to further develop the programme and extend its use more effectively among youth workers in Europe.
