The Prix Palatine is an innovative educational program aimed at fostering cultural exchanges between Italy and France, encouraging multilingualism, enhancing intercultural awareness, and promoting active societal participation through an introduction to democratic voting. Participation is open to all Italian and French high schools with ESABAC binational classes and classes studying French and Italian as a second language, with priority given to schools in underprivileged or peripheral areas prone to higher dropout rates. Through the voting mechanism, students engage in civic education, experiencing democratic participation within their own country and Europe, being encouraged to express their opinions through reviews and voting. Film selection follows specific criteria, ensuring diversity of genres and themes (emphasizing inclusion, gender equality, diversity, combating inequality, and environmental protection) to stimulate critical discussion. Film screenings are preceded by in-class preparation using instructional guides and screenings occur in theaters to promote a shared viewing experience and are introduced by cinema professional activities to provide insights and career perspectives.
