Objectives

We aim to set up a new teaching method that, relying on different board games played by mankind during its history, could lead to a playful, interdisciplinary, accessible and inclusive teaching. Board games, and especially ancients, medieval and traditional ones, are multifaceted instruments that can be exploited for their historical value, but also for their logical and mathematical implications, and their cultural background.

Activities

We aim to design 25 teaching modules focused on ancient, medieval or traditional board games. Each module includes print-and-play paper components, animated videos and teacher’s video-guides; design of playing materials on PDF that can be easily printed and cut to be used in classes; implementation of an online multilingual storage platform that teachers can easily access to browse, select, download those teaching modules; test of the modules in different European classes, comparing their result

Impact

We expect to respond to the teacher’s need of teaching materials that are easily accessible and affordable, ready-to-use, pedagogically updated, approved by disciplinarian specialists but also open to interdisciplinary links, useful to implement teaching that are socially and culturally inclusive. the games will also be accessible to students with different degrees of disability. We expect to test them in different countries thanks to the support of EuroClio and to collect scientific results, so
