Objectives

The project aimed to preserve the plant diversity of the Alpine countries and to promote sustainable cultivation methods. A central aspect was the research and documentation of climate-adapted crops in order to better understand their potential for Alpine regions. The project explored which plant species are particularly suitable for cultivation under changing climatic conditions and how their use can be secured in the long term. By connecting experts from agriculture, science, and nature conservation, the exchange of proven methods was strengthened. This was intended to help further develop ecological farming and create practical solutions for preserving traditional varieties. Another goal was to make the variety garden accessible to everyone. To achieve this, a concept was developed that includes pathway design, information systems, and digital services. Overall, the project sought to gather knowledge, connect stakeholders, and contribute to the long-term preservation of regional plant diversity.
