▶Objectives
The main objective of the project was to empower educators and parents with practical tools and inclusive strategies to better support children with special educational needs (SEN) in early childhood settings. We aimed to promote inclusive education environments through creative methods such as art, music, and sports. Specifically, we sought to enhance the professional skills of educators, increase parental engagement, create useful educational resources (a guide and booklet), and foster cross-border cooperation between kindergartens in Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia.
▶Activities
The EKSEN project included a wide range of local and international activities. We held a Kick-off Meeting in Latvia and a Final Meeting and Conference in Lithuania to align the partnership and disseminate results. Three international training events were organized in Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania, where educators exchanged best practices in inclusive education using sports, arts, and music. Each partner also implemented local inclusive activities for children with SEN and conducted parent information sessions to support families. Additionally, we developed and published two main intellectual outputs: a comprehensive guide on inclusive education practices and a visually engaging booklet showcasing successful methods. Dissemination was carried out through workshops, school events, university outreach, and digital platforms.
▶Impact
The EKSEN project achieved strong results in promoting inclusive education across Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia. It produced two key outputs: a Comprehensive Guide on Inclusive Education and a Visually Engaging Booklet focused on arts, sports, and music. Both were translated into partner languages and are available online. Three international trainings were held (Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia), involving 48 educators in workshops and peer exchanges. Over 70 parents participated in national info sessions on supporting children with special needs. Dissemination reached wide audiences: 300+ printed materials were shared, a final conference in Lithuania gathered 100 participants, and results were presented at seminars and universities. Educators reported improved skills, parents felt more empowered, and SEN children engaged in creative, inclusive activities. Partner collaboration also deepened, with plans for future projects. All materials remain freely accessible, ensuring the project’s long-term impact and visibility in the Baltic region.
