Objectives

The EDU-AI project aimed to equip VET educators with the competencies, tools, and confidence needed to meaningfully integrate AI technologies into their teaching practices. Its core objectives included: increasing AI-integrated teaching practices among at least 45 educators in 9 VET schools; promoting the adoption of modern digital learning methodologies to bridge gaps with traditional approaches; and providing accessible, customized training experiences through local workshops and an international conference. The project also sought to establish a cross-border network of at least 105 educators and institutions to encourage knowledge exchange, collaboration, and the development of a supportive community. A key deliverable was the creation of a modular, multilingual digital toolkit to guide AI use in classrooms. All objectives emphasized inclusivity, upskilling, and sustainable impact through open-access resources, hands-on methodology, and peer-learning networks that would continue beyond the project’s lifecycle.

Activities

The EDU-AI project consisted of 2 core activities. First, a comprehensive analysis involving 163 VET educators was conducted to assess their digital competences, training needs, and familiarity with AI tools. This research directly informed the structure and content of the EDU-AI digital toolkit, which features modular micro-learning units in four languages and is tailored to three levels of digital readiness. The second activity focused on capacity building through hands-on local workshops implemented in Lithuania, Belgium, and Italy, training 107 VET educators. These were followed by a high-level international conference that gathered 50 participants for cross-border peer learning, stakeholder dialogue, and policy discussion on AI in vocational education. The project also ensured visibility and engagement through structured dissemination: 3 newsletters, 3 press releases, active social media campaigns, and the launch of a Facebook group for educators. Strong project management and internal quality assurance ensured timely and effective delivery across all partner countries.

Impact

EDU-AI delivered a comprehensive, multilingual digital toolkit structured across 3 difficulty levels, supporting varying digital competencies among VET educators. Available in English, Lithuanian, Italian, and Dutch, the toolkit was released under an open license to ensure long-term accessibility and adaptation. A total of 107 VET educators participated in national workshops, while 50 stakeholders joined the final international conference for cross-border exchange and policy dialogue. Impact evaluations revealed a 20% increase in participants’ confidence using AI tools and that 65.9% reported a positive shift in pedagogical thinking. The EDU-AI Facebook group grew to over 105 members, fostering a sustainable community of practice. The project strengthened institutional partnerships, supported peer learning, and contributed to European priorities on digital transformation in education. Dissemination through newsletters, press releases, EPALE articles, and social media campaigns reached over 80,000 individuals, ensuring broad visibility and continued uptake of project results.
