Objectives

We aim to empower young women to tackle the AI gender gap through targeted education and mentorship. Our project will equip young women and youth educators with the essential skills and resources for a future in AI. We will directly engage four primary groups: young women, youth educators, youth-focused organisations, and AI education stakeholders. Our multi-faceted approach will foster skills, build communities, and drive systemic change in AI gender representation.

Activities

The Headstart project has four main activities: Visual Resource Showcase: Curating a series of 12 interviews featuring accomplished women in AI. AI Toolbox for Youth Educators: Developing practical-based OERs that include focused workshops on ethical AI. Networking & Mentoring Sessions: Conducting both online and in-person sessions to connect young women with established professionals in AI. Share and Sustain Strategy: Utilising website & other platforms to enhance the project’s visibility.

Impact

Through a mix of Visual Showcases, AI Toolboxes & Networking Sessions, Headstart provides a comprehensive solution to the AI gender disparity. Visual Showcases will feature videos from female professionals, demystifying AI. Our AI Toolboxes equip educators with resources for teaching practical & ethical AI to young women. Networking sessions connect them with professionals for tailored guidance. Our Share & Sustain strategy ensures lasting impact by enhancing online visibility and dialogues.
