▶Objectives
We wanted to help students, teachers, and families understand that protecting water is not only about knowing, but also about doing. Our main goal was to support small changes in daily habits — like using less water, not polluting rivers, or rethinking what we do at home or at school. Another goal was to include families in a real and active way. In many projects, families are not part of the learning process. But we wanted parents to learn and act together with their children. That’s why each module had activities for students, teachers, and parents around the same topic. We also wanted to support teachers. The project gave them ideas and tools to talk about water in a more creative and practical way. We used games, outdoor tasks, art, and real-life actions to make learning more active and interesting. Finally, we wanted to work as partner schools. Sharing ideas with other countries and doing the same actions at the same time helped us feel more connected and united around one important message: "Let’s protect water together".
▶Activities
We carried out 5 transnational modules and monthly local activities. In EcoTeachers (Poland), teachers developed interdisciplinary water education materials. In EcoKids (Hungary), students joined workshops, created digital booklets, visited water museums and treatment plants, created and performed drama on water awareness, and explored historical water structures. In EcoAll (Portugal), they designed school-based water-saving campaigns, explored geothermal water use, visited a top-level wastewater plant, and joined a university-led seminar. In EcoWater:World Water day (virtual meeting in Poland) students took part in an expert lecture, who assigned them some homework to work out, they also worked in international small groups in separate rooms on Teams designing a poster collage. In EcoParents (Türkiye), teachers created a parent training module and examined water use in marble and felt production. Monthly activities included: BlueDay, poem/song challenges, World Water Day webinar, eco-games, character design, outdoor classroom day, awareness walks, and a final picnic. These ensured sustained awareness, stakeholder involvement, and behavioural change.
▶Impact
The project focused on raising awareness of the importance of water and its sustainability. Students, teachers, families and local communities were involved in the activities. Campaigns, workshops, field visits and artistic activities such as poster and poetry competitions, as well as digital performances and brochures were carried out. Interdisciplinary lesson plans, an e-book, educational videos and a training module for parents were created. The materials are available on the project website and social media. International cooperation included mobilities, work of students in online groups of mixed nationalities and online events, including an interactive webinar to celebrate the World Water Day. The project developed the language competences, creativity of the participants and their civic attitudes. Local actions were carried out, such as BlueDay, different competitions and ecological picnics. Although there were no tools to monitor behavioural changes in homes, there was an increase in participants' awareness of sustainable water management. The project achieved its goals and became an inspiration for further pro-ecological and educational activities.
