Objectives

The main objective of the project was to introduce innovative ways to teach climate change through geoscience and to support teachers and students in understanding the impact of environmental challenges. We aimed to equip students aged 12 to 16 with green skills by connecting classroom learning with real world experiences in nature, particularly in UNESCO Global Geoparks. We wanted to strengthen teachers’ ability to integrate geoscience and sustainability into their teaching and to promote cooperation between schools, scientists, and local communities. Through field visits, workshops, digital tools, and collaborative activities, we set out to develop educational materials such as lesson plans, a board game, and a shared GeoSchool Policy. Our goal was to create a strong international network of schools committed to climate education, increase student engagement, and support long term change in how geoscience and environmental responsibility are taught in schools.
