Objectives

A collaboration between BC studies (BE), ULB (BE), VAI (BE), amàco (FR) & RWTH Aachen (GE) with the aim to create capacity in knowledge & practice among architects (students) & empower them to use circular & healthy building materials, like earth-, & bio-based materials as a straightforward solution. In line with the Green Deal, Pact for Skills & Circular Economy Package the project will instruct & train hundreds of (future) architects to implement the circular transition in building.

Activities

- 12 upskilling workshops of a punctual nature (2 days: multiple materials: mix theory & practice) & longer active workshops of 2 weeks where both students & architects will build structures (prototypes, pavillions,..) together - 3 lectures (for a large, European crowd of architects & students) on the application of bio- & geobased materials + potential exhibit - 2000 ex. (published) leaflets & digital content on best practices in application of bio- & geobased materials, as open source tool

Impact

- 500 p trained through educationally excellent workshops - downloads & reach 5.000 of accessible framework for design & use of biobased & geobased building materials in at least 3 European languages - online reach & sharing knowledge through lectures & social media of 25.000 people - potential base for a harmonized framework for European norms - increased & consolidated practical knowledge on design & application - a generation of architects who is empowered to build with circular materials
