Objectives

The learners become aware of the need to stand up for the environment and curb climate change. In addition, the experience of democracy plays an important role during the project implementation, as all learners have to participate in the project in a self-confident and effective manner. As the project content goes beyond the usual lessons, it makes use of an alternative form of participation. Cooperation at European level strengthens the EU as a community.

Activities

Getting to know each other serves as a team-building measure. A presentation on the topic of alternative energy generation serves as initial input. In the follow-up activities, three groups work on different project results: public relations, concept development for improved waste management, innovative technologies for energy generation. The results are presented to the pupils, teachers, school management and local councillors/mayor at a final event.

Impact

A more environmentally friendly and sustainable school campus that acts as a role model in dealing with environmental protection and climate change. During the project, the participating students experience themselves as self-effective and responsible citizens who contribute to the transition to a climate-friendly and environmentally conscious society. Furthermore, the learners recognize the value of the European community and how enriching the cooperation with the partner countries is.
