Objectives

The agricultural sector is confronted with a variety of challenges like climate change or the loss of biodiversity. Furthermore, small and family farms are under enormous market pressure and often in need of a new business model. The concept of a Circular Economy can be a solution to both challenges. Therefore, the project wants to promote the development and implementation of regional value cycles and the application of circular economy principles in agriculture.

Activities

Within the project we will develop training materials for VET schools and colleges as well as further training institutions. They introduce circular economy in agriculture and skills needed to implement regional value cycles and guide teachers and learner through opening up this innovative topic. Best practice examples present first hand experiences and challenges implementing circular economy in agriculture. Furthermore, the materials are applied in trainings or field days.

Impact

The developed materials as well as the training activities and events raise the awareness of VET and furhter training organnisations (primary target group) for the principles of circular economy . They provide information and inspiration about viable business models and knowledge on the implementation of regional value cycles. The materials will also be presented farm managers and other stakeholders (secondary target group) working with farmers in the field of innovation and sustainability.
