Objectives

Climate neutrality by 2050? This is not possible without a fundamental cultural change in the construction industry. To achieve this, we need skilled construction workers with expertise in sustainability, circular economy and ecological construction. The 'ProCirCon' project aims to equip construction trainees with skills in 'circular construction' so that they can act as agents for the green transition on the construction site of tomorrow, and to make VET institutions fit for this task.

Activities

On the basis of a 'body of knowledge' of sustainable building materials and processes, partners from VET, business and academia from five EU countries develop and pilot action-oriented learning units, teaching and learning materials for construction professions and teacher training. Accompanying dialogue with stakeholders from industry, science and policy stakeholders and capacity building will ensure institutionalisation. Transfer will make the project results available throughout the EU.

Impact

The results of “ProCirCon” are an innovative learning model for circular economy for use in vocational training, institution-building strategies of training institutions and policy recommendations for the regulatory level - as a contribution to strengthening innovation, quality, labour market relevance and future-orientation of VET. The new industry-specific environment and sustainability competences promote a change of perspective and commitment of young professionals to the green transition.
